Christmas Memory
With the stereo blasting the same familiar, “Rockin’Around the Christmas Tree,” over and over, I sat in my red and green striped pajamas that matched the ones of my siblings next to me. I wasn’t sure how much longer my five year old brain could keep me sitting still as I anticipated the Christmas-theme-wrapped presents under the brightly decorated tree. “Just a few more minutes, I have to get the camera!” my mom yelled and excitement filled the air. While I waited I took a quick peek at what lay ahead. Oh my gosh! There was a big one, a really big one. Could it be for me? Then my mom walked up the stairs, delivering the news that would crush my perfect morning. “The camera is out of film,” she reported with a stressed pitched voice. We sat for even longer as my dad scavenged the city looking for an open store that sold film.
